Job summary

Escape Velocity is seeking a Senior Level Designer to drive design and construction of engaging spaces that support core mechanics, combat, and movement. Join a fully remote team and shape environments from concept to final blockout, iterating with playtest data and cross-discipline partners.

You will collaborate with mechanics and AI teams, communicate ideas, and mentor junior designers while delivering high-quality, playable levels for action games on Console and/or PC.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Level Design experience.
• Design & 3D level building expertise.
• Experience using industry-standard engines such as UE5 and Unity.
• Strong communication skills and ability to mentor juniors.
• Drawing/Photoshop skills are a plus.
• Technical scripting knowledge is a plus.
• 3D construction beyond blockout quality geometry is a plus.
• A portfolio of high-quality shipped/playable Level Design work.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross discipline teams to plan and create level content.
• Present and pitch ideas to internal and external teams.
• Design and develop maps, arenas, objectives and combat spaces from concept to final blockout.
• Blockouts must communicate flow, scale, player positioning, sightlines, cover and traversal.
• Iterate rapidly based on playtest data and team feedback.
• Playtest in-progress work and provide feedback to the team.
• Collaborate with Mechanics/AI Designers to create gameplay mechanics and improve tools.
• Work with Environment Artists to convert blockouts into polished environments.
