Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a licensed lawyer in the Philippines with at least 5 years of experience in corporate and labor law to lead legal affairs and compliance. The role includes drafting and negotiating contracts, conducting due diligence, and representing the company with regulators and courts.

You will oversee data privacy programs, ensure regulatory alignment (ISO/HIPAA), and collaborate across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed lawyer in the Philippines with 5+ years in corporate or labor law.
• Experience in governance, regulatory compliance, data privacy, or information governance.
• Familiar with ISO, HIPAA, or similar security/privacy standards and audits.
• Experience in a BPO/services environment and as Data Privacy Officer or equivalent.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to management on corporate, commercial, regulatory, labor, and compliance matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents.
• Ensure transactions and operations comply with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
• Conduct legal due diligence on investments, transactions, and strategic initiatives.
• Represent the company before courts, tribunals, and government agencies.
• Prepare legal briefs, pleadings, position papers, and case documentation.
• Handle labor-related matters, disputes, disciplinary cases, and employment-law compliance.
• Perform corporate housekeeping and regulatory filings for the company and subsidiaries/affiliates.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and brief management.
• Develop and review legal, compliance, and governance policies.
• Act as designated Data Privacy Officer and lead privacy program development.
• Monitor compliance with data privacy laws, contractual obligations, and internal privacy standards.
• Conduct privacy impact and risk assessments and audits.
• Oversee investigations and corrective actions for privacy incidents.
• Lead privacy awareness, training, and communications.
• Serve as primary contact for regulators, data subjects, and external partners on privacy matters.
• Work with cross-functional teams on ISO, HIPAA, and certification compliance.
• Support internal and external audits, risk assessments, and certification reviews.
• Review and align client contracts, business associate agreements, and data processing agreements.
• Recommend enhancements to governance, risk, and compliance framework.
