We are seeking a Senior Business Automation Engineer to partner directly with Finance and Operations leadership in designing, building, and maintaining automation solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and productivity across the organisation.
This role combines business process analysis, software development, AI workflow automation, systems integration, and financial operations support. The successful candidate will identify manual processes, design scalable automation solutions, build integrations between business systems, and leverage AI technologies to streamline reporting, reconciliation, and operational workflows.
Success in this role will be measured by measurable business outcomes, including reductions in manual effort, improved reporting accuracy, faster processing times, and increased operational efficiency.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and business leaders to identify automation opportunities.
- Analyse existing workflows and recommend process improvements.
- Design, develop, and implement automation solutions that reduce manual effort and operational bottlenecks.
- Calculate business impact and ROI of automation initiatives.
- Continuously improve workflows, controls, and automation reliability.
- Design and build AI-powered workflows and automation solutions.
- Develop AI agents and assistants that improve decision-making and productivity.
- Create reusable prompt libraries, automation templates, and workflow frameworks.
- Implement validation and quality controls to ensure AI-generated outputs are reliable and accurate.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend business applications.
- Automate financial reporting, reconciliations, and data processing workflows.
- Support automation of invoice matching, cash receipt reconciliation, purchase order validation, and exception reporting.
- Develop solutions for analysing and transforming large datasets.
- Improve reporting speed, accuracy, and accessibility for Finance stakeholders.
- Create reusable tools, templates, and utilities for operational and financial teams.
- Build and maintain integrations between internal and third-party business systems.
- Develop API-based solutions connecting accounting, payroll, POS, banking, inventory, ERP, and operational systems.
- Design secure and scalable data exchange processes.
- Implement error handling, monitoring, logging, and performance optimisation.
- Troubleshoot and maintain existing integrations and automation platforms.
- Develop advanced Excel and Python-based automation solutions.
- Automate recurring reports, data cleansing, consolidation, and analysis.
- Build tools that eliminate repetitive spreadsheet work and improve productivity.
- Improve accuracy and consistency of data-driven processes.
- Produce technical documentation, workflow diagrams, and user guides.
- Create training materials and knowledge-sharing resources.
- Communicate technical solutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Technology, and executive leadership teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in automation, software development, systems integration, or business process automation.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Experience working with REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, and authentication methods.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
- Ability to work independently while partnering closely with business stakeholders.
- Industry experience in Finance, Accounting, Retail, Hospitality, Multi-site Operations, Payroll, ERP, or Business Operations.
