Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a senior financial analyst to support ECOO Business Units with complex financial analysis, forecasting, reporting, and project work. This role collaborates with North America and Manila teams to drive accuracy and impactful business insights.

The position requires a 4-year degree, extensive experience in finance and accounting, and strong communication skills to present findings to management. CPA is a plus, with emphasis on cost accounting and project management.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
• CPA is a plus but not required; 10+ years experience in finance domains including FP&A, cost accounting, and procurement.
• Knowledge of financial services industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly/quarterly reporting, forecast, and variance analysis for ECOO units.
• Support annual planning and budgeting with timely, accurate inputs and stakeholder recommendations.

Summary

Under the direction and coordination with onshore-based staff, this position will focus on handling complex financial analysis, calculation of forecast/plan, reporting and handling projects for ECOO Business Units. Analysis includes, but not limited to, expenditures, research on variances, study of trends, recorded journal entries, procurement related transactions, and financial reporting trends for ECOO Management group.

Major Duties

• Responsible for, or assists with, monthly/quarterly reporting processes which involve, but not limited to, forecasting, P&L variance analysis, and preparation of various reports and presentations to the management focusing on key business factors driving financial performance, as well as supplement reports needed by business partners.
• Assist in annual planning and forecast which includes, but not limited to, supporting the business unit for the preparation, timeliness and integrity of the budget and proactively providing sound and valuable recommendations to stakeholders that would impact key business decisions.
• Assist in the submission of invoices as requested by business partners, processing of cost chargebacks, and assist in the month-end close process including, but not limited to, reclassifications and adjustment entries.
• Directed by and work closely with North America-based partner on knowledge transfer and general collaboration.
• Own and improve expense reporting views in recurring deliverables.
• Develop strong relationships and closely coordinate with both partners in Manila and other locations in carrying the identified responsibilities.
• Work closely with the Team Leader and the Manager in identifying process improvements to enhance the productivity and efficiency of the team and developing financial/business metrics that are vital to stakeholders decision‑making.
• Own and participate in other special projects and ad‑hoc requirements.
• Contribute to production of other reporting requirements for the Enterprise COO and DAO functions as needed.

Knowledge/Skills

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills required to evaluate financial results.
• Strong knowledge of and experience in cost accounting and project management skills.
• Broad financial and accounting knowledge and business acumen acquired through a 4‑year degree program and related work experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required to present relevant information to management.
• Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office suite, PeopleSoft, HFM, TM1/Cognos, SAP, Clarity PPM and other similar systems used in financial reporting.
• Experience with business intelligence analytical tools required to interpret data, perform analyses and communicate financial information to various constituents. Knowledge and experience in Power BI reporting is a plus.
• Detail‑oriented, highly flexible and adaptable to change, and proven ability to multi‑task, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively and build relationships in a geographically‑blended environment (North America and Manila, primarily).

Experience Required

• CPA is a plus but not required, with 10+ years of collective experience in general and cost accounting, financial planning and analysis, management reporting, procurement, project management and analysis, and other relevant finance‑related functional areas.
• Knowledge of the Financial Services Industry is a plus.
