The Rothenbury Group is hiring a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to support accounts payable activity across a portfolio of Canadian businesses.
This role will be responsible for reviewing and processing invoices, maintaining vendor accounts, preparing payment batches, resolving discrepancies, and supporting accurate month-end records across multiple companies and legal entities.
The successful candidate must be able to manage a high volume of financial information without sacrificing accuracy or control. You will be expected to identify incomplete documentation, incorrect coding, duplicate charges, unusual activity, and vendor-account differences before they affect payment or reporting.
This is not an entry-level bookkeeping or invoice-entry position. We are looking for an experienced AP professional who can work independently, investigate issues, follow established controls, and maintain complete and dependable accounts payable records.
Previous Experience Supporting Canadian Companies Is Required.
Applications are reviewed against the education, experience, technical knowledge, and communication requirements of the role.
Candidates selected for screening will receive an email within one to two business days of applying with a link to complete a pre-recorded video interview.
The interview will assess your Canadian-company experience, full-cycle accounts payable knowledge, HST understanding, payment-run experience, reconciliation ability, accounting-system proficiency, professional judgment, and ability to manage complex AP responsibilities independently.
Candidates who meet the required standard may be invited to continue to a live interview.
Experience in real estate, property management, technology, staffing, maintenance, professional services, financial services, or another multi-company environment is considered beneficial.
You are organized, dependable, and comfortable taking responsibility for financial records that support several businesses.
You do not process invoices without reviewing the underlying information. When documentation is incomplete, an approval is missing, coding is unclear, or a vendor balance does not agree, you investigate the issue and follow it through to resolution.
You are able to manage competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy, documentation, and proper controls.
You also understand that accounts payable involves direct responsibility for protecting company funds. You are comfortable questioning unusual activity, following approval requirements, and escalating matters that fall outside your authority.
The annual compensation range for this position is:
C$21,600-C$25,200
Final compensation will depend on the candidate’s depth of accounts payable experience, previous work with Canadian companies, multi-entity experience, Canadian tax knowledge, accounting-system proficiency, communication skills, and ability to independently manage a complex accounts payable workload.
