Job summary

MAVI, a US-focused finance placement firm, seeks a Senior Accountant to own the monthly close and core financial reporting for a high-growth client. Remote from the Philippines, you will handle journal entries, reconciliations, and statements under US GAAP, collaborating with US leadership.

You will also improve close processes, support audits, and drive automation where possible, leveraging your ERP experience and strong Excel skills. This is a full-time, long-term role with USD compensation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience with ownership of month-end close.
• US GAAP experience or exposure to US clients/entities (PFRS/IFRS with US exposure acceptable).
• Strong accrual accounting fundamentals and ability to support financial statements.
• Experience with an ERP/accounting system (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or Xero).
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English for daily collaboration with US teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent).

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to own the monthly close and core financial reporting of a high-growth US company, working remotely from Philippines.

You will own a complete accounting workstream, from journal entries and reconciliations to the financial statements, working directly with the Controller and US finance leadership. Where the close relies on manual workarounds, you will be expected to improve it rather than repeat it.

What You’ll Own

• The close. Own the month-end and year-end close for one or more entities, including deadlines and quality of output.

• Entries and reconciliations. Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and fixed asset schedules, and keep balance sheet reconciliations clean and current.

• Financial statements. Prepare the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow support under US GAAP, and explain material movements to leadership.

• Audit readiness. Maintain documentation and PBC schedules that an auditor can follow without a walkthrough.

• Process improvement. Improve close checklists, SOPs, and recurring workflows, including where AI and automation can help.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of the month-end close

• US GAAP experience, or strong PFRS or IFRS experience with exposure to US clients or entities

• Solid accrual accounting fundamentals and experience preparing financial statement support

• Experience with a major ERP or accounting system, such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or Xero

• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills

• Strong written and spoken English for daily work with US teams

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent professional qualification

Preferred

• Philippine CPA (PRC-licensed), US CPA, ACCA, or equivalent (completed or in progress)

• Experience using AI tools in accounting workflows, with the judgment to review and correct AI-generated output

• Big 4 or public accounting experience, or experience serving US clients

• Experience at a venture-backed or PE-backed company, or in SaaS or e-commerce

Work Arrangement

This is a fully remote role with a single client company for the duration of the engagement. Full-time roles require a minimum of 4 hours of daily overlap with US Eastern Time (ET); part-time roles require a minimum of 2 hours.
