About the Company
We are an accounting firm working with US startups and small businesses. We handle full-cycle accounting and financial reporting, and we lean hard on automation and AI to get it done faster without cutting corners.
The role
We are looking for a senior accountant who can prepare the work, review it and lead the people doing it. You will own the close for a set of clients, review and manage a small team, run projects from start to finish, and help us find new ways to automate the manual parts of accounting.
What you’ll do
Prepare
- Own the monthly close for a portfolio of clients: reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, deferred revenue and financial statements.
- Keep bank, card, payroll and spend platform activity flowing cleanly into the general ledger.
- Prepare adjusting journal entries with clear support behind every line.
- Build workpapers that tie back to source reports and statements.
- Write short commentary on results that a founder can read in a minute.
Review and manage people
- Review work from staff and junior accountants before it goes to the client.
- Manage a small team day to day: assign work, set priorities and keep closes on schedule.
- Give clear review notes, coach on the why behind a correction, and help people grow.
- Catch repeat issues and fix them at the source.
Lead projects
- Lead cleanups, catch-up work, system migrations and new client onboarding.
- Scope the work, set the timeline and own the result.
Automation and AI
- Use AI tools like Claude and Codex in daily work, from reviewing ledgers and drafting commentary to building reconciliations and workpapers.
- Build and maintain automations and agentic workflows that take manual steps out of the close, such as transaction coding, reconciliation matching, journal entry imports and client requests.
- Check AI output with the same care you would give a teammate’s work.
- Share what works and help the team pick it up.
Work with clients
- Be a point of contact for founders and finance teams. Ask for what you need, explain findings plainly, and join close reviews.
What we’re looking for
- 4 or more years in accounting, with at least 2 in an accounting firm, audit or multi-client role.
- Experience reviewing other people’s work and managing or mentoring staff.
- Solid US GAAP: accruals, revenue recognition, prepaids, fixed assets and leases.
- Advanced QuickBooks Online. Experience with payroll and spend platforms like Gusto and Ramp.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets. You build workbooks with linked formulas, not typed-in numbers.
- Comfortable running several client closes at once and hitting deadlines.
- Clear, simple written English.
- Being proactive to finding solutions to problems.
- Strong communication skills
- Professional skepticism. When something does not tie, you find out why instead of forcing it.
Preferred
- Strong AI and automation skills. Hands-on with Claude, Codex, ChatGPT or similar, and comfortable building workflows with tools like Zapier, Make or simple scripts.
- CPA (US or PH), or working toward it.
- E-commerce or startup accounting experience.
- System migrations or historical cleanups.
How we work
- Every number traces to support.
- Work gets reviewed before it goes to a client.
- If a task repeats, we look for a way to automate it.
- We write plainly. No jargon in anything a client reads.
