Job Summary
The Sales Engineer will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing client relationships, understanding technical project requirements, preparing proposals and quotations, and converting opportunities into profitable projects and service contracts.
The role requires someone who understands the construction and industrial market and can communicate effectively with engineers, contractors, project owners, procurement teams, consultants, and decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the construction, industrial, infrastructure, engineering, and related sectors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, developers, industrial companies, project owners, consultants, procurement teams, and other potential clients.
- Generate leads through market research, networking, referrals, industry events, site visits, and direct business development.
- Understand client requirements and determine appropriate ECCDI services and solutions.
- Conduct client meetings, site visits, presentations, and technical discussions.
- Review project requirements, plans, specifications, and scopes of work to identify opportunities.
- Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to develop technically appropriate solutions.
- Prepare quotations, proposals, commercial offers, and other sales documents.
- Assist in cost estimation, quantity assessment, and technical proposal preparation when required.
- Present technical and commercial proposals to clients and decision-makers.
- Follow up on submitted quotations, tenders, proposals, and active opportunities.
- Negotiate commercial terms within approved company parameters.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, proposals, client communications, and sales activities.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, upcoming construction projects, and market opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
- Coordinate closely with project and operations teams during project award and turnover.
- Ensure client expectations are properly communicated to internal teams.
- Help identify opportunities for repeat business, additional services, equipment leasing, and long-term contracts.
- Meet agreed sales and business development targets.
- Represent ECCDI professionally in meetings, industry events, networking activities, and client engagements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction sales, engineering sales, business development, project management, or a related construction/industrial field.
- Strong preference for candidates with an engineering or technical background.
- Construction industry experience is required.
- Existing relationships with contractors, developers, industrial companies, project owners, consultants, or procurement teams is a strong advantage.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, equipment, engineering services, and project requirements.
- Ability to understand technical drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and BOQs is highly preferred.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to develop leads and convert opportunities into business.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project costs and profitability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable preparing professional proposals and presentations.
- Willing to conduct client meetings, site visits, and business development activities.
- Willing to travel as required.
- Highly driven, organized, proactive, and results-oriented.
