Job summary

Vena Energy (Philippines) is seeking a Safety Officer to monitor site safety and ensure regulatory compliance across renewable energy projects. You will review contractor safety plans, lead risk assessments, and promote a strong safety culture with effective incident reporting.

The role requires DOLE SO3 qualification and 5+ years (junior) or 10+ years (senior) of experience in renewable energy, with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Min. DOLE SO3 qualified.
• College graduate.
• At least 5 years experience for Junior Level SO, at least 10 years experience for Senior Level SO.
• Experience in Renewable Energy.
• PCO accredited preferred, but not required.
• DOLE First Aider certified preferred, but not required.
• Can drive and must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Site safety monitoring & compliance on project sites.
• Contractor & risk management through safety plans & JHAs.
• Develop and enforce safety programs, procedures and culture.
• Incident management & reporting to DOLE/DOE/DENR.
• Emergency prep drills and readiness improvements.
• Stakeholder coordination with government agencies and project teams.
• Documentation, continuous improvement and tracking of corrective actions.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Safety Monitoring & Compliance

• Conduct daily inspections of project sites to ensure a hazard-free working environment

• Ensure compliance with local regulations and HSSE standards

• Verify that tools, equipment, and working conditions meet safety requirements

2. Contractor & Risk Management

• Review and approve contractors’ safety plans, method statements, and job hazard analyses

• Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with safety requirements

• Identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions

3. Safety Programs & Culture

• Promote safe work practices and enforce company safety policies

• Develop and implement safety procedures, guidelines, and programs

• Drive a strong safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership

4. Incident Management & Reporting

• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; identify root causes

• Maintain accurate records of HSSE metrics (e.g., incidents, unsafe acts, environmental data)

• Prepare and submit reports to internal stakeholders and government agencies (e.g., DOLE, DOE, DENR)

5. Emergency Preparedness

• Conduct safety drills and emergency response exercises

• Test and improve site emergency response plans

• Ensure readiness for crisis situations and compliance with emergency protocols

6. Stakeholder Coordination

• Liaise with government agencies, project managers, and site teams

• Support inspections, audits, and regulatory evaluations

• Address worker safety concerns and elevate issues to management

7. Documentation & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain HSSE documentation, reports, and compliance records

• Track corrective actions and ensure timely closure

• Participate in project planning meetings to integrate safety requirements early
