Job summary

Mets Cold Storage Services Inc. in the Philippines seeks a Health and Safety Officer to monitor activities, orient new hires, and oversee emergency equipment.

You will plan drills, conduct hazard assessments, and implement training programs across the company, ensuring DOLE compliance and ongoing safety improvements. Requirements include a college degree, BOSH training, at least one year in the field, and practical knowledge of first aid and emergency response.

Qualifications

• College graduate with relevant health and safety background.
• BOSH training completed and applicable to duties.
• At least 1 year of experience in the field.

Responsibilities

• Monitor health and safety officer activities.
• Facilitates health and safety orientation for new hires and regular employees.
• Monitor emergency equipment (fire exits, extinguishers, hydrants, PPEs, lights).
• Plan drills and ensure employee awareness and participation.
• Establish and maintain documented health and safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure completion and regular review of Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Control (HIRAC).
• Document and investigate incidents; generate corrective and preventive actions.
• Establish health and safety training programs company-wide.
• Attend trainings, seminars and meetings for health and safety.
• Submit mandatory DOLE reports (monthly and annual).
• Strictly follows HR and EHS policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Health and Safety Function

1. Health and Safety Officer Monitoring Activities

Facilitates health and safety orientation to newly-hired and regular employees

Monitoring of emergency equipment:

• Weekly checking of fire exits
• Monthly checking of fire extinguishers
• Monthly checking of fire hydrants (hose, nozzle, and cabinet)
• Monthly checking of emergency PPEs
• Monthly checking of emergency lights

2. Plan drills, and ensure employee awareness and participation on safety drills

• Annual Fire Drill
• Annual Earthquake Drill
• Annual Ammonia Drill

3. Establish a documented health and safety policies, systems and work procedures to have a standardized reference documents for inspections and audits, and ensure these are implemented, reviewed, updated and communicated.

4. Ensure completion and regular review of Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Control (HIRAC) on work equipment and operations.

5. Ensure that all safety incidents and accidents are documented and investigated, and corrective and preventive actions are generated for long term solution.

6. Establish programs for health and safety training throughout the company

7. Attend trainings, seminars and meetings for health and safety

8. Submit mandatory reports to DOLE

Administrative Function
