Nimerra Construction Corporation is seeking a Safety Officer to implement and maintain OSH policies on our construction sites. You will conduct daily safety inspections, enforce PPE rules, and lead toolbox meetings and safety briefings.
You will also prepare safety documents, ensure regulatory compliance, monitor high-risk activities, and coordinate with project teams to address safety concerns and corrective actions. This role requires thorough hazard assessment and proactive safety management.
Job Responsibilities
Implement and maintain the company’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) policies and programs at the construction site.
Conduct daily site safety inspections to identify hazards, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions.
Ensure that workers, subcontractors, and visitors comply with safety rules, procedures, and PPE requirements.
Conduct Toolbox Meetings, safety orientations, and daily safety briefings before work starts.
Monitor proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety shoes, safety harnesses, gloves, and other required protective equipment.
Prepare and maintain safety-related documents, reports, checklists, permits, and records.
Ensure compliance with applicable DOLE and OSH standards and construction safety requirements.
Monitor high-risk activities such as working at heights, hot works, excavation, lifting operations, electrical works, confined spaces, and other hazardous activities.
Review and implement Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Risk Assessment, and Safe Work Procedures.
Coordinate with the Project Engineer, Site Supervisor, Foreman, subcontractors, and workers regarding safety concerns and corrective actions.
Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences, and prepare corresponding reports and recommendations.
Implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions to minimize workplace accidents and injuries.
Monitor housekeeping and ensure that work areas, access routes, scaffolding, tools, and equipment are maintained in safe condition.
Conduct regular inspections of tools, equipment, scaffolding, ladders, and other site facilities.
Assist in the implementation of the Emergency Response Plan, including emergency drills, evacuation procedures, and first-aid response.
Coordinate with the Company Nurse/First Aider regarding workplace injuries, medical emergencies, and employee health and safety concerns.
Monitor and report safety violations and recommend appropriate corrective or disciplinary action when necessary.
Attend site safety meetings and coordination meetings and provide updates on safety performance and concerns.
Ensure proper posting and availability of safety signs, warnings, emergency procedures, and required safety information throughout the project site.
Assist in ensuring that subcontractors comply with the project's safety requirements and documentation.
Perform other safety-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
