Responsibilities
Responsibilities include site inspections, hazard identification and mitigation, safety training, accident investigations, equipment checks, record-keeping, and promoting a strong safety culture on construction sites.
- Policy Development & Implementation: Create, update, and enforce safety policies and procedures to minimize risks.
- Site Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure the site meets safety standards.
- Hazard Control: Implement preventative measures and ensure the safe use of tools, equipment, and materials to eliminate or mitigate risks.
- Training: Provide safety training and orientation to workers on topics like personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency procedures, and hazardous materials.
- Accident Investigation: Investigate accidents and near-misses to determine the root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the construction site adheres to local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards, working closely with bodies like OSHA.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, training, and other safety-related data for reporting and compliance purposes.
- Promoting Safety Culture: Foster a positive and proactive safety culture by encouraging teamwork and ensuring every worker feels responsible for their own safety and the safety of others.
- Collaboration: Work with project managers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to address safety concerns and integrate safety into all stages of the project.
