AFNI Philippines, Inc. is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead the Occupational Safety and Health program across multiple BPO sites in Metro Manila.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in OSH, engineering, environmental science, nursing, or related field.
  • Valid DOLE-accredited Safety Officer SO3 or SO4 certification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Occupational Safety and Health experience.
  • At least three (3) years of leadership experience managing Safety Officers or multi-site safety programs.
  • Experience supporting a large BPO, shared services, contact center, or corporate office with 24/7 operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Philippine OSH Standards, Labor Code, Fire Code, and related regulatory requirements.

Position Purpose:

The Safety Manager is responsible for leading the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) program across multiple BPO sites, ensuring compliance with all applicable Philippine regulations and company policies while fostering a proactive safety culture. The role oversees the planning, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of workplace safety initiatives in a fast-paced, 24/7 contact center environment.

The Safety Officer Manager partners closely with Operations, Human Resources, Facilities, Physical Security, Corporate Real Estate, Medical Services, Business Continuity, and Senior Leadership to identify and mitigate workplace risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain a safe, healthy, and resilient work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Occupational Safety and Health Management
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's Occupational Safety and Health Management System across all BPO locations.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Philippine Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS), DOLE Regulations, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Requirements, Local Government Regulations, and Company Policies.
  • Establish and maintain site-specific safety procedures aligned with business operations.
  • Develop annual OSH objectives, programs, and performance metrics.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure timely submission of all mandatory regulatory reports, permits, and documentation required by DOLE and other government agencies.
  • Maintain compliance with mandatory safety training, certifications, and statutory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary Point Of Contact (POC) during regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory updates and implement required changes.
Workplace Risk Management
  • Lead Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control (HIRAC) activities for all operational and support areas.
  • Conduct workplace inspections covering office spaces, production floors, server rooms, cafeterias, parking areas, clinics, and common areas.
  • Assess risks associated with renovations, office expansions, contractor activities, and new operational processes.
  • Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and monitored through completion.
Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Emergency Response Plans for all company locations.
  • Lead fire drills, earthquake drills, medical emergency simulations, and evacuation exercises.
  • Manage Emergency Response Teams, Floor Wardens, Fire Brigade, and First Aid Teams.
  • Partner with Business Continuity and Crisis Management teams to enhance organizational resilience.
  • Ensure emergency equipment, evacuation maps, assembly areas, and emergency communication systems remain operational and compliant.
Incident Management
  • Lead investigations involving workplace injuries, illnesses, near misses, property damage, and safety-related incidents.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and identify corrective and preventive actions.
  • Track incident trends and develop targeted prevention initiatives.
  • Present incident summaries and recommendations to senior leadership.
Ergonomics and Employee Well-being
  • Develop and manage office ergonomics programs designed for contact center operations.
  • Conduct workstation assessments to reduce musculoskeletal injuries and discomfort.
  • Partner with Facilities and HR to improve workplace wellness and employee comfort.
  • Promote initiatives supporting employee health, fatigue management, and safe work practices.
Safety Training and Employee Engagement
  • Develop and deliver mandatory safety orientation programs for new hires.
  • Manage annual refresher training, emergency preparedness programs, and safety awareness campaigns.
  • Facilitate toolbox meetings and safety committee meetings.
  • Promote employee participation in reporting hazards and near misses.
Contractor and Vendor Safety
  • Oversee contractor safety compliance for construction, maintenance, and facility improvement activities.
  • Review contractor risk assessments, permits to work, and safety documentation.
  • Conduct contractor safety audits and monitor compliance throughout project execution.
Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Safety Officers and Safety Coordinators across multiple sites.
  • Establish performance objectives, conduct coaching sessions, and support professional development.
  • Manage staffing plans, scheduling, and succession planning for the Safety Team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Partner closely with Operations, Human Resources, Facilities, Physical Security, Medical Services, Procurement, IT, and Corporate Leadership to integrate safety into daily operations.
  • Support site expansions, office fit-outs, client audits, and business transition projects.
  • Provide expert guidance during operational planning and organizational changes.
Reporting and Continuous Improvement
  • Develop executive-level dashboards and reports covering safety performance, compliance metrics, incident trends, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Present safety performance during leadership meetings and governance reviews.
  • Benchmark industry best practices and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive programs that strengthen the organization's safety culture and operational resilience.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, Nursing, or a related discipline.
  • Valid DOLE-accredited Safety Officer certification (SO3 minimum or SO4 preferred).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Occupational Safety and Health experience.
  • At least three (3) years of leadership experience managing Safety Officers or multi-site safety programs.
  • Experience supporting a large BPO, shared services, contact center, or corporate office environment with 24/7 operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Philippine Occupational Safety and Health Standards, Labor Code, Fire Code, and related regulatory requirements.
