Job summary

Manila Multipurpose Terminal is seeking a Safety and Security Marshal to promote a safe working environment within the terminal. You will conduct inspections, monitor adherence to health, safety, and security regulations, and respond to incidents to protect personnel and property.

The role requires 1-3 years in safety/security, BOSH SO1 certification is preferred, and the ability to lead by example in a demanding port environment. Starting ASAP with occasional shifting schedules.

Job description

A. GENERAL FUNCTION

The Safety and Security Marshal is responsible for promoting, engaging, and maintaining a safe working environment within the MMT terminal. This role ensures compliance with workplace health and safety and security regulations through inspections, monitoring, and proactive risk mitigation strategies. The Marshal contributes to fostering a safety-first culture and minimizing risks to personnel and property.

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Terminal Safety and Security Monitoring and Engagement

• Oversee daily operations to ensure adherence to company safety policies and applicable regulations.


• Serve as the primary on-site contact for safety-related concerns.


• Challenge improper use of PPE and unsafe behaviors or work practices to reinforce a strong safety culture.


• Perform daily inspection of the facility to deter criminal activity and maintain a visible security presence.


• Monitor the facility for potential security breaches and monitor employees and visitors’ compliance with security protocols.


• Maintain accurate daily records and submit regular reports to the HSE Manager.

1. Hazard and Vulnerability Identification and Risk Mitigation

• Conduct routine on-site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe acts and conditions.


• Identify vulnerabilities within the port facility and evaluate potential threats.


• Recommend corrective actions to address risks and prevent incidents.


• Ensure safety signage, equipment, and emergency exits are functional and properly maintained.

1. Safety and Security Awareness Reinforcement

• Assist the Safety Officer in delivering safety orientations for new employees, visitors and contractors as needed.


• Assist the Security Officers in reminding and conveying security protocols within the terminal.


• Demonstrate a proactive 'Challenge, Educate, and Coach' approach in guiding employees and port users towards safe and compliant behavior.

1. Incident Response and Reporting

• Support the investigation of accidents, injuries, and near-misses by providing complete and detailed information to relevant departments.


• Support the investigation of security breaches by providing the security officer with relevant information, such as documented observations, actions taken, and other pertinent details related to the incident.


• Assist the Safety and Security Officers in preparing detailed reports and maintaining comprehensive incident records.

1. Performs other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

C.MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

1. Educational Attainment: College graduate of any 4-year course.


2. Eligibility: Licensed driver is an advantage.


3. Work Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a safety and security-related role.


4. Training/ Certification: Has undertaken Basic Occupational Health and Safety training (at least 8 hours) with BOSH SO1. BOSH SO2 and COSH certificates is an advantage.


5. Skills:
