Job summary

Private Advertiser in Manila seeks an experienced Retail Operations Manager to lead store performance and manpower. You will drive sales strategies, ensure compliance with standards, manage budgets, and oversee safety and brand execution across departments.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree with 5–8 years in retail leadership, possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills, and are available to start immediately with willingness to travel to provincial stores.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in retail operations management or similar.
  • Knowledge of SM and other department store consignment processes.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Management: analyze figures, set targets, monitor daily data and guide store teams to meet quotas.
  • Personnel Management: schedule operations, train staff, conduct appraisals and develop talent with succession planning.
  • Standards Management: ensure customer service standards, implement policies, audit processes and handle complaints.
  • Cost Management: manage store budget, control expenses and optimize operations without compromising quality.
  • Safety Management: coordinate with HR on safety, enforce health standards and asset protection.
  • Brand Management: communicate brand philosophy and grow customer recognition.
  • Other Department Management: collaborate with marketing and merchandising to drive footfall and optimize store layout and stock control.

Job description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Sales Management
  • a) Analyzing sales figures and reports, market trends, and financial reports to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
  • b) Setting and monitoring sales targets, as well as planning and executing strategies to achieve them.
  • c) Monitor daily sales data for stores, understand reasons for any shortfall in daily sales.
  • d) Provide guidance to store management teams to achieve sales targets/quotas.
2. Personnel Management
  • a) Responsible with the monthly scheduling of operation team and sales associates to ensure adequate coverage.
  • b) Training, and managing retail staff, including conducting performance appraisals and providing professional development opportunities.
  • c) Lead and motivate the retail operations team to deliver the plan, constantly reviewing capability and capacity to ensure objectives are delivered, individuals grow, and a succession plan is in place.
  • d) Conducting regular store visits, staff meetings and training sessions to enhance team performance.
  • e) Set a positive example for the retail team in terms of commitment, work ethics, and personal character.
3. Standards Management
  • a) Overseeing daily store operations and ensuring that customer service standards are consistently met.
  • b) Developing and implementing operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and ensure store compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • c) Audits the processes being performed by all store personnel to ensure everything is up to company standard.
  • d) Addressing customer complaints and issues promptly, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. Resolving conflicts or complaints from customers and store personnel.
  • e) Overseeing the opening and closing procedures of the store.
  • f) Staying abreast of new industry technologies, retail trends, and best practices to continuously improve store operations.
4. Cost Management
  • a) Maintaining the store's budget, controlling expenses, and planning cost-effective operations without compromising quality.
5. Safety Management
  • a) Coordinating with HR to ensure staff compliance with health and safety regulations and internal controls.
  • b) Enhance safety awareness among all store personnel and set safety management requirements for special equipment like cash registers, fire equipment, and CCTV devices.
  • c) Ensure store personnel work according to regulations to reduce workplace accidents and injuries.
6. Brand Management
  • a) Understand and convey the company’s brand philosophy and development vision, promoting employee brand awareness to achieve customer recognition of the brand.
7. Other Department Management
  • a) Collaborating with marketing teams to execute promotional campaigns and events that drive footfall and increase customer engagement.
  • b) Coordinating with merchandising for overseeing merchandise and product display, optimizing store layout for customer flow, and ensuring seamless customer service.
  • c) Coordinating inventory levels, stock control, and supply chain logistics to respective department heads to optimize stock availability and minimize losses.
  • d) Coordinating with HR on manpower requirements of each store and performance evaluation of sales associates.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in any Business courses, or any related field.
  • Proven 5 - 8 years of experience as a retail operations manager or in a similar managerial role.
  • Working knowledge of SM and other Department Store consignment processes and Boutique operations.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational abilities.
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic retail environment.
  • Proactive and results-driven with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of retail operations, merchandising, and customer service principles.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and logistics, a plus.
  • Organizational skills and the flexibility to jump from priority to priority.
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate with executives and staff employees.
  • No problem with fieldwork and provincial travel.
  • Must be residing in Manila or willing to be assigned in this area.
