Job summary

Thumbtack is seeking a Senior Accounting Associate based in the Philippines, working remotely on a Pacific Time schedule. You will own accounts payable for Thumbtack's global entities and ensure timely, accurate processing.

The role requires 5+ years in accounting, US GAAP expertise, and proficiency with NetSuite, Coupa, Navan, and GSuite. CPA preferred. You will support month-end close and audits.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of solid experience as an Accountant, with focus on Accounts Payable.
• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of and experience applying US GAAP principles and financial reporting.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Critical thinking and the confidence to challenge the status quo
• Adaptability and learning agility - comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities, quick to pick up new systems, and eager to take on new areas of ownership as the business grows
• CPA license is preferred but not required
• Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite, Coupa, GSuite, Navan) is a plus
• Experience with accounts payable in a shared service entity is preferred
• Experience with AI tools
• Experience with system implementations

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end accounts payable process for Thumbtack's US, Canada, and Philippines entities.
• Process timely payments in compliance with policies.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Coordinate approvals and documentation for invoices.
• Manage employee expense reports, reviews, approvals, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Prepare and amortize prepaid expenses monthly.
• Support month-end/year-end close including bank matching and payables accruals.
• Suggest process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Support audits with documentation and explanations.
• Assist with ad hoc projects including AP automation and system changes.
• Collaborate on finance systems changes (NetSuite, Coupa, Navan) testing and implementation.
