Job summary

Global Medical Virtual Assistants is seeking a medical virtual assistant to support clinicians and insurers. The role includes patient communications, data entry, appointment scheduling, and HIPAA-compliant admin tasks. You will work with EMR systems and coordinate between patients and providers.

The ideal candidate has medical background experience, strong English, and comfort with night shifts. This position offers permanent work-from-home arrangements and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written English communication.
• 1–2 years of medical-related experience.
• Familiar with medical terminology.
• Healthcare-related degree preferred.
• Intermediate skills with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office.
• HIPAA certification is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, impartial, highly organized, computer savvy.
• Open to working night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Manage inbound and outbound calls from patients, providers, and insurers regarding inquiries, appointments, and data verification.
• Maintain excellent phone etiquette.
• Obtain medical history by navigating EMR systems (Cerner, Epic, AthenaNet/AthenaHealth, NextGen).
• Verify healthcare insurance coverage and eligibility.
• Provide administrative support: data entry, appointment scheduling, email management, record management, time-keeping.
• Handle health promotion, care plan explanations, admissions, new patient intake, and front-desk triage.
• Establish professional relationships as liaison between patients and providers.
• Adhere to HIPAA policies.
