Job summary

BizForce is seeking a Medical Receptionist / Triage Nurse to support a busy medical practice. The role blends clinical telephone triage, patient communication, appointment coordination, and front-office support.

The ideal candidate is an actively licensed California RN or LVN who can handle high call volumes, document accurately in the EMR, follow HIPAA rules, and escalate urgent cases to providers as needed. This is a remote position with US hours.

Qualifications

• Active California RN or LVN license required.
• Experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting.
• Strong telephone communication and patient service skills.
• Experience handling a high volume of patient calls.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to escalate when needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer, EMR, and documentation skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Willingness to work US hours.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming patient calls promptly, professionally, and compassionately.
• Identify the purpose of each call and determine the appropriate next step.
• Perform clinical telephone triage within the nurse's scope of practice and guidelines.
• Gather and assess patient symptoms to determine level of care.
• Recognize urgent symptoms and escalate to physicians.
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments.
• Respond to routine patient questions about appointments and procedures.
• Document patient calls, symptoms, and follow-up instructions in the EMR.
• Communicate patient concerns and updates to providers and care team.
• Assist with referrals, prescription inquiries, and medical records requests.
• Maintain accurate patient demographic and clinical information.
• Follow HIPAA and practice policies.
• Deliver professional patient experiences.
• Manage multiple priorities with accuracy and speed.
