Job summary

MicroSourcing is seeking a GIS Developer Software Engineer to design and maintain GIS solutions for Outside Plant fiber networks. You’ll automate workflows with Python, build web apps with ArcGIS JavaScript APIs, and integrate GIS data with CAD tools to support planning and permitting.

The role emphasizes collaboration with engineers on routing and cost analysis. Required are ArcGIS Pro/Online/Enterprise mastery, Python and JavaScript skills, and SQL experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, CS, or related field.
• 3+ years GIS development experience in telecom, engineering, or construction projects.
• Strong proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise, Online, and related tools.
• Python scripting for GIS automation (ArcPy, Jupyter Notebooks, GDAL).
• Experience developing web GIS apps using JavaScript (ArcGIS API for JavaScript, React, or Angular).
• Knowledge of SQL databases (PostGIS, SQL Server, Oracle) for managing spatial data.
• Familiarity with fiber network GIS modeling, conduit, splice points, and pole infrastructure.
• Experience with CAD data (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and integrating into GIS.
• Understanding of OSP design principles, permitting, and construction workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage GIS solutions for OSP fiber project design and construction planning.
• Build custom geoprocessing tools and automate workflows with Python (ArcPy, Pandas, NumPy).
• Develop web-based mapping apps using ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Leaflet, or OpenLayers.
• Integrate GIS data with CAD drawings to streamline telecom planning.
• Collaborate with engineers to optimize fiber routes and permitting workflows.
• Perform spatial analysis for feasibility studies, cost estimation, and routing.
• Maintain GIS datasets (poles, conduits, splice points, assets).
• Configure ArcGIS Online, Enterprise, and Portal environments.
• Develop REST APIs and SQL-based geodatabases for data integration with systems.
• Implement Esri Utility Network for asset modeling.
• Provide GIS analytics and dashboards (ArcGIS Dashboards, Power BI) for decision support.
