Job summary

Penbrothers is seeking a senior Controller to oversee outsourced accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance across multiple units. You will lead the monthly close, manage reconciliations, and supervise the accounting team to deliver accurate, timely financials.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and experience with ERP systems. Remote work from home is available with global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience managing month-end close and financial reporting processes.
• Experience with reconciliations, regulatory filings, and operational accounting.
• Leadership or supervisory experience within accounting or finance functions.
• Strong Excel and accounting systems proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage monthly and quarterly close processes to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Review financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules before submission to corporate leadership.
• Ensure accounting entries and reconciliations are completed accurately and in accordance with internal standards.
• Prepare and review journal entries related to accruals, inventory, depreciation, and operational accounting activity.
• Produce clean, reviewed financials with supporting documentation and variance explanations.
• Record and manage inventory accounting entries and maintain inventory accuracy across locations and operations.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions with operational teams.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and ensure additions, disposals, and depreciation activity are recorded accurately.
• Review monthly financial activity for fixed asset additions and disposals to ensure schedules remain accurate and complete.
• Support operational accountability through accurate inventory reporting and reconciliation practices.
• Complete and review monthly and quarterly regulatory filings including tax filings, shipping/distribution reports, and ABC reporting.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests and maintain audit-ready documentation.
