Job summary

Somewhere is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team on a part-time basis. This remote role is based in the Philippines and aligns with US business hours, focusing on accurate, profitable bids for residential or commercial projects.

You will own the full estimation lifecycle—reading drawings, performing takeoffs, analyzing material and labor costs, and assembling comprehensive cost estimates. Strong blueprint literacy and spreadsheet skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of construction estimating experience.
• Ability to read architectural and structural drawings and specs.
• Understanding of materials, methods, labor productivity, trade dependencies, and project staging.
• Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets for line-item calculations, unit rates, and bid comparisons.
• Strong written and spoken English for collaboration with US project managers, engineers, and suppliers.
• Dedicated availability to work 20 hours per week aligned with US hours from Philippines.

Responsibilities

• Quantity surveying and takeoff execution.
• Read and analyze blueprints, specs, MEP, civil plans.
• Compute material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Coordinate with vendors, trades, and subcontractors.
• Evaluate subcontractor bids and quotes for complete coverage.
• Track real-time material prices, local labor rates, and lead times.
• Prepare proposals, bids, and line-item cost breakdowns.
• Identify contingencies, constructability risks, and propose VE options.
