About the role
The Recruitment Associate/Assistant will support the end-to-end recruitment of ship crew or seafarers for various vessel types. This role involves sourcing qualified crew, validating documents, coordinating technical interviews, and ensuring all candidates meet maritime requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the recruitment and deployment of seafarers for different vessel categories (e.g., cargo, tanker, passenger vessels, etc.)
- Source applicants through manning pools, referrals, online job boards, social media, and walk-in applicants
- Screen candidates based on position requirements, experience at sea, STCW training, and license validity
- Coordinate technical interviews, trade tests, and assessments with crewing managers or captains
- Validate seafarer documents such as seaman's book, SRC, STCW certificates, medical exams, and other maritime clearances
- Maintain updated talent pools for key positions and urgently required crew
- Assist in arranging medical examinations, training schedules, and pre-employment requirements
- Ensure recruitment logs, crew matrices, and applicant records are updated accurately
- Support deployment and embarkation scheduling when needed
- Provide timely communication and updates to applicants and hiring managers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, HR, Business Administration, Marine-related courses, or any related field
- 1–2 years recruitment experience, ideally in crewing/manning, maritime hiring, or high-volume recruitment
- Knowledge of seafarer documentation, STCW certificates, medical requirements, and industry standards (an advantage)
- Familiarity with job platforms and sourcing tools for seafarers
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple vacancies
- Proficient in MS Office or Google Workspace
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deployment timelines
