Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quantity surveying and cost estimation.
• Proficient in cost estimating software and MS Office; familiarity with UK regs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and prepare detailed quantity take-offs and material requirements.
• Prepare project budgets, schedules, procurement plans, contracts, and other documents prior to project start.
• Collaborate with site managers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
• Manage and monitor two projects concurrently with regular progress reports.
• Oversee procurement, vendor negotiations, and cost analysis.
• Ensure Health and Safety compliance on site and coordinate with finance during funding drawdowns.
• Provide cost-effective recommendations and identify opportunities for design improvements.
• Build relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers.

Job Description

Role Objective

You will be joining a dynamic and fast-growing property development company specializing in small to medium-scale residential new builds and conversion projects. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing construction plans, preparing detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates, and developing accurate project budgets. You will also lead negotiations with contractors and vendors while fostering strong relationships with site managers and third-party stakeholders.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing project costs, monitoring schedules, and ensuring the timely and successful delivery of construction projects. This position demands a structured and detail-oriented approach, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively coordinate between multiple project stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Review construction drawings and specifications to prepare detailed quantity take-offs and material requirements.
• Prepare pre-construction documentation, including project budget, schedules, procurement plans, contracts, and other essential documents prior to project commencement.
• Collaborate closely with site managers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.
• Manage and monitor two projects simultaneously, providing regular progress and status reports to stakeholders.
• Oversee material sourcing and procurement processes, including vendor coordination, negotiation, and cost analysis.
• Manage utility applications and liaise directly with utility providers for new service connections, system upgrades, and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and promote safe working practices on site.
• Prepare feasibility and cost analyses to support development financing and coordinate with the finance team during project fund drawdowns.
• Provide cost-effective recommendations and identify opportunities for process or design improvements to enhance project performance.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quantity surveying, cost estimation, and project management.
• Strong ability to interpret and analyze architectural and engineering drawings.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in cost estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with UK building regulations, standards, and codes of practice is an advantage.
