Job summary

SMEC (an SJ Group company) seeks a seasoned Engineering Project Leader with 20+ years of experience in major infrastructure, including hydropower and tunnels. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage international EPC contracts, and drive governance and project controls across projects in Southeast Asia.

Strong track record in schedule management, claims avoidance, and document control using Primavera P6, Aconex, and related tools is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; required.
• Chartered Professional Engineer or equivalent registration; preferred.
• Master's in Engineering/Construction/Project Management; desirable.
• 20+ years of professional experience.
• 15+ years on major infrastructure projects; hydropower/dams/tunnels desirable.
• 10+ years in project management orOwner's Engineer roles.
• Experience administering large EPC contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary consultant or Owner's Engineer teams.
• Manage international projects, preferably in Southeast Asia.
• Oversee project controls, scheduling, progress measurement and reporting.
• Implement governance, lifecycle controls and project management plans.

Job description

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline, required.
• Chartered Professional Engineer or equivalent professional registration, preferred.
• Master's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related field, desirable
• Minimum 20 years of professional experience.
• Minimum 15 years on major infrastructure. Experience in hydropower, dams and tunnel projects is desirable.
• Minimum 10 years in project management or Employer's Engineer / Owner's Engineer roles.
• Demonstrated experience administering large EPC contracts.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary consultant or Owner's Engineer teams.
• International project experience, preferably in Southeast Asia, desirable.
• Pumped storage hydropower experience, highly desirable
• FIDIC contract frameworks and contract administration.
• Claims, variations, EOT assessments and dispute avoidance.
• Project controls, scheduling, progress measurement and reporting.
• Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Excel, Power BI and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Aconex or equivalent document management systems.
• Technical report writing, executive briefing and governance reporting.
• Multicultural team leadership and stakeholder engagement.
• SMEC Business Management System and Project Management System requirements.
• Project governance, assurance, audit readiness and lifecycle controls.
• Project Management Plan implementation and compliance monitoring.Familiarity with software applications such as ETAP, AutoCAD, Smart Plant Electrical, CYME, PSS/E, CEDEG, Agi32, Dialux.
