Job summary

Surbana Jurong in the Philippines seeks a seasoned Civil Engineer for dam and hydropower projects. You will lead daily site inspections, verify adherence to drawings and specifications, witness testing, and maintain detailed quality and safety records.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, PE registration, and hands-on QA/QC for concrete works, excavation, and construction methods. You will coordinate with the Resident Engineer and contractors, support testing and handover activities,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer license/registration is required or in process.
• Construction Safety Training is expected.
• QA/QC certification or equivalent is preferred.
• Dam engineering or hydropower training is advantageous.
• Concrete structures inspection training is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspection of dam/hydropower site works and related structures.
• Verify compliance of works with approved drawings, specs, and contract requirements.
• Witness material testing and field testing; document quality control activities.
• Identify defects, non-conformances and deviations; report to Resident Engineer.
• Monitor contractor compliance with approved methods and procedures.
• Coordinate with QA/QC personnel and contractor reps on site matters.
• Assist in reviewing inspection requests and work acceptance; participate in handover.
• Attend site meetings and provide updates on quality, safety and progress.

• Experience in hydraulic structures, intake structures, outlet structures, or water conveyance systems
• Experience in reinforced concrete construction works
• Experience with quality inspection and testing activities
• Experience on Owner's Engineer, Engineer, or Supervision Consultant projects
• International hydropower project experience
• Conduct daily inspection of Lower Inlet/Outlet Structure construction activities.
• Verify compliance of works with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
• Inspect excavation, foundation preparation, concrete placement, reinforcement installation, embedded items, and structural works.
• Witness material testing, field testing, and quality control activities.
• Identify and report construction defects, non-conformances, and deviations from approved requirements.
• Monitor contractor compliance with approved construction methods and procedures.
• Participate in safety inspections and report unsafe conditions or practices.
• Maintain daily inspection reports, site diaries, and photographic records.
• Coordinate with Resident Engineer, QA/QC personnel, and contractor representatives on site matters.
• Assist in reviewing requests for inspection and work acceptance.
• Verify implementation of corrective actions arising from inspections and audits.
• Attend site meetings and provide updates on construction quality, safety, and progress.
• Support progress monitoring and reporting activities.
• Assist during testing, commissioning, and handover of completed facilities.
• Perform other inspection and supervision duties assigned by the Resident Engineer or Team Leader.
