Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Power Plant Operator to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable generation of electricity by operating, monitoring, and maintaining all power plant systems.

Responsibilities include inspections, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and accurate shift reporting, with strict adherence to safety protocols for deployment in remote overseas environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years operating and maintaining power generation equipment.
• Knowledge of generator sets, switchboards, air compressors, and fuel/oil systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
• Must travel internationally and possess a valid passport.
• Able to pass medical, security, and deployment requirements for remote assignment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor generator sets and power plant systems.
• Manage fuel supply systems and related equipment.
• Perform pre- and post-operation checks and inspections.
• Identify and troubleshoot operational problems and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections for wear, leaks, or corrosion.
• Monitor controls to regulate load balances and power delivery.
• Document performance and maintenance logs daily.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs.
• Adhere to safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Respond to emergencies to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate with supervisors and technicians to address issues.
