Job summary

Amentum seeks a Fuel Equipment Operator / Driver to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role centers on operating and maintaining fuel/defuel systems, forklifts, and related equipment, with strict adherence to POL regulations and safety procedures.

Candidates must hold valid permits, pass medical and security requirements, and be prepared for international travel and deployment. This position is based on Diego Garcia and requires compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 year of experience operating and handling specialized fuel/defuel equipment, forklifts, or other applicable machinery.
• Should be trained and certified with proven knowledge of and adherence to POL regulations, IAW NAVFAC P-300, and other applicable instructions and standards.
• Valid operator’s permit or learner’s permit certifying qualification to operate specific equipment, as required.
• Strong understanding and application of operational safety practices, particularly when working in hazardous environments or on flight aprons.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain operational logs and perform inspections of equipment and vehicles for readiness.
• Valid country driver’s license.
• Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
• Passport should be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
• Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
• Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
• Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
• Prior experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
• Familiarity with military or Department of Defense fuel system operations, policies, and guidelines.
• Experience driving and operating specialized equipment in high-demand or mission-critical environments, including roles requiring certifications for airfield operations or hazardous material handling.
• Advanced certifications or training for operating fuel-handling vehicles, forklifts, or other equipment covered under NAVFAC P-300 or related programs.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, fuel/defuel systems, and truck fill equipment per safety protocols.
• Ensure operations comply with POL regulations and NAVFAC/NAVAIR/AFI standards.
• Maintain equipment readiness and report issues promptly.
• Support refueling and defueling operations at sites.
• Operate vehicles with valid permits for on-station use.
• Mentor learners and ensure safety training compliance.
• Document training, certifications, and maintenance for compliance.
• Adhere to PPE requirements and safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
