Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Power Plant Operator to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves operating and monitoring all power plant systems, performing inspections, and maintaining equipment to ensure safe and reliable electricity generation.

Requirements include 3+ years in power generation or similar roles, ability to read technical manuals, and eligibility to travel internationally. A high school diploma is required; engineering degrees are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
• Must be able to travel internationally and obtain visas as required.
• Must pass contract medical requirements and maintain deployment physical standards.
• Must obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor generator sets, switchboards, radiator fans, and other systems.
• Manage fuel supply systems, including air compressors and centrifuges.
• Conduct pre-operation checks and post-operation inspections.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and take corrective actions.
• Perform routine inspections for wear, leaks, or corrosion.
• Monitor controls to regulate load balances and power delivery.
• Document performance data and maintenance logs daily.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs as needed.
• Comply with safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Respond to emergencies to minimize downtime and risk.
• Communicate with supervisors and technicians to coordinate activities.
