Amentum is seeking an Engine / Generator Mechanic to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will perform maintenance, inspection, and repair of diesel and generator systems in accordance with Navy standards and manufacturer specs.

Amentum is seeking an Engine / Generator Mechanic to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Engine / Generator Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, inspection, and repair of engines and generator systems in accordance with Navy operational standards and manufacturer specifications.
Troubleshooting mechanical issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and supporting the reliable operation of diesel, gasoline, or auxiliary power generator equipment.
Performing routine servicing such as oil changes, filter replacements, belt adjustments, and component inspections. This includes diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, assisting with repairs or component replacements, and documenting maintenance actions in accordance with established procedures.
Additional duties include maintaining tools and work areas, adhering to safety and environmental regulations, assisting with load testing and operational checks, and supporting emergency power response as required. The Engine / Generator Mechanic contributes to mission‑critical power and equipment readiness in a remote, team‑oriented environment.
Required to comply with all occupational safety and health standards, rules, and orders applicable to their actions and conduct. The role demands consistent, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proactive reporting of workplace hazards, and total adherence to safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury environment.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
1–3 years of experience in engine maintenance, generator repair, or mechanical equipment support
High school diploma or equivalent
Basic knowledge of internal combustion engines, generator systems, and mechanical troubleshooting
Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance instructions
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and working in mechanical spaces
Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel internationally
Passport must be valid for at least one year beyond hire date
Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures
Previous experience working in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi‑national workforce
Experience supporting Navy, DoD, or industrial generator systems
Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and safety procedures
Strong organizational, time management, and problem‑solving skills
Valid country driver’s license.

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
