We are looking for an experienced Payroll Team Lead to oversee end-to-end payroll operations, compensation and benefits administration, statutory compliance, reporting, and team performance. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and leadership skills to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management
- Lead and oversee the complete payroll cycle, including payroll preparation, validation, approval, and disbursement.
- Review payroll inputs such as attendance, overtime, night differential, incentives, allowances, commissions, deductions, loans, and employee movements.
- Verify salary adjustments, promotions, new hires, resignations, final pay, and other payroll-related transactions.
- Conduct payroll reconciliation and resolve discrepancies before salary release.
- Coordinate with Finance and Accounting to ensure timely funding, posting, and recording of payroll expenses.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and security of payroll and employee information.
Government Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with Philippine labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Oversee the accurate computation, deduction, remittance, and reporting of SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, withholding tax, and other statutory requirements.
- Ensure timely submission of government reports, annualization, alphalists, and employee tax documents.
- Maintain complete payroll records and supporting documents for internal and external audits.
- Monitor regulatory changes and recommend necessary updates to payroll policies and processes.
Compensation and Benefits Administration
- Support salary reviews, promotions, merit increases, compensation adjustments, and incentive programs.
- Assist in developing salary structures, job grades, and compensation policies based on internal equity and market data.
- Oversee the administration of employee benefits, including HMO, leave programs, insurance, and government-mandated benefits.
- Coordinate with benefits providers, brokers, and vendors to ensure accurate enrollment and efficient service delivery.
- Review employee benefit utilization and recommend improvements that support attraction and retention.
Data Management and Analytics
- Ensure payroll, compensation, benefits, and employee records are accurate and updated in the HRIS or payroll system.
- Prepare regular reports on payroll costs, headcount, overtime, benefits utilization, and compensation trends.
- Analyze payroll data and provide recommendations to improve cost efficiency, accuracy, and workforce planning.
- Identify opportunities to automate payroll processes and strengthen internal controls.
Team Leadership and Employee Support
- Lead, coach, and develop the Payroll and Benefits team to achieve accuracy, efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Assign responsibilities, monitor workloads, review outputs, and provide regular performance feedback.
- Establish clear payroll timelines, procedures, and service standards for the team.
- Handle escalated employee concerns regarding salaries, deductions, benefits, taxes, and final pay.
- Work closely with HR Business Partners, Recruitment, Employee Relations, Finance, and Management on payroll-related matters.
- Communicate payroll and benefits policies clearly to employees and key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in payroll, compensation, and benefits, preferably with team leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine payroll practices, labor laws, taxation, and statutory requirements.
- Experience in payroll reconciliation, government reporting, audits, and final-pay processing.
- Proficiency in payroll systems, HRIS, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
