We're hiring a hands-on working supervisor to lead our back-office team and keep payroll, benefits, and compliance work accurate and on time. This person will manage daily priorities, resolve complex issues, and provide backup for critical processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the back-office team, assign priorities, track deadlines, and provide coaching and performance feedback.
- Handle U.S. payroll reviews, adjustments, corrections, deductions, final/off-cycle pay, and payroll-provider issues.
- Coordinate payroll funding with accounting while maintaining separate preparation, approval, and payment controls.
- Oversee benefits and 401(k) administration, provider issues, eligibility exceptions, and renewals.
- Manage multi-state payroll-tax and unemployment escalations; track assigned filings, insurance renewals, workers' compensation requirements, and client/supplier compliance obligations.
- Serve as the trained backup for the HR Specialist, ensuring critical onboarding, offboarding, and benefits processes continue during absences or disruptions.
- Resolve escalated employee issues and maintain procedures, checklists, clear ownership, and reliable follow-through.
Qualifications
- Hands-on U.S. payroll experience, including multi-state payroll and complex corrections.
- Experience with benefits administration and recurring compliance requirements.
- Experience supervising a team while personally performing operational work.
- Strong spreadsheet, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Staffing-industry experience and familiarity with iSolved/Payroll Vault, QuickBooks, or CEIPAL preferred.
This is a working supervisor role not management only. Routine accounting and HR processing remain with their assigned team members; the supervisor provides oversight, handles exceptions, and steps in when needed.
