Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and organized HR & Payroll Specialist to support the Head of People and Culture in Canada with HR operations across both the Philippines and Canada. As part of our Philippines growth, you will be a key team member helping build and support local operations from the ground up.
This role manages end-to-end recruitment, Philippine payroll processing (including government‑mandated contributions and statutory compliance), HR administration, compliance, and reporting.
The ideal candidate is tech‑savvy, highly organized, comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment, and able to work an EST schedule while collaborating closely with our Canada‑based leadership team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Manage the full recruitment cycle: job postings, candidate sourcing, resume screening, scheduling, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Track recruitment progress and maintain a pipeline of potential candidates.
- Create dashboards and reports to provide insights into recruitment metrics and hiring trends.
- Collaborate with the Canadian team to align talent acquisition with overall growth objectives.
Payroll & Compensation
- Process payroll accurately and on time for employees based in the Philippines.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws, statutory contributions, and benefits (SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, tax filings).
- Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare payroll reports.
- Coordinate with Canada on salary adjustments, benefits, and other compensation matters.
HR Operations & Administration
- Maintain employee records, contracts, and HR documentation for both the Philippines and Canada.
- Implement HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and performance management processes.
- Manage HR tools, systems, and communication platforms (Slack, Zoom, Google Suite).
Reporting & Analytics
- Use Microsoft Excel to create pivot tables, dashboards, and HR metrics reports.
- Analyze HR and recruitment data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide regular reporting to the Head of People and Culture in Canada on key HR KPIs.
5. Philippine Benefits & Compliance
- Administer employee benefits (HMO), ensuring compliance with local labor laws.
- Handle government‑mandated contributions and reporting (SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, taxes).
- Support onboarding and orientation of employees in the Philippines.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Accounting or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in HR, payroll, and HR generalist roles.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, dashboards).
- Experienced in Slack, and Zoom.
- Proficient in Google Suite.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work on an EST schedule.
Must Have
- Experience supporting remote teams or cross-country HR operations.
- Proficient with Philippine labor laws, payroll, and benefits administration.
- Prior experience in HR reporting and metrics dashboards.
