Job summary

Mirandah Asia International Inc. - Philippine Branch is seeking a Patent Paralegal to support the IP team in the Philippines.

The role covers end-to-end administrative and paralegal duties for patent matters, from prosecution through post-grant maintenance, coordinating with attorneys and IPOPHL. This position targets individuals who are organized, detail-oriented, and eager to develop expertise in patent prosecution and IP portfolio management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required or related field.
  • 1–3 years in patent prosecution or IP support preferred.
  • IPOPhL experience is an advantage.
  • Familiar with patent prosecution procedures, docketing, and annuity/maintenance requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple matters and prioritize deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop Philippine patent practice.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and filing patent applications with IPOPHL.
  • Docket and monitor patent prosecution deadlines and office actions.
  • Coordinate filing of responses and amendments under attorney directions.
  • Handle formalities and documentation for patent applications.
  • Monitor application status and communicate updates to foreign associates.
  • Assist with post-grant recordals, assignments, and changes in ownership/address.
  • Maintain accurate patent portfolio records and docketing information.

About the role

We are looking for a Patent Paralegal to join our Intellectual Property team in the Philippines. The successful candidate will provide end-to-end administrative and paralegal support for patent matters, covering patent prosecution through post-grant maintenance, while coordinating with attorneys and Intellectual Property Office.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and interested in developing a career in patent prosecution and IP portfolio management.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of patent applications with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

  • Docket and monitor patent prosecution deadlines, including office actions, responses, amendments, examination reports, and other prosecution matters.

  • Prepare and coordinate filing of responses to examination reports and other official communications under the direction of patent attorneys/agents.

  • Assist with formalities and documentation requirements for patent applications.

  • Monitor application status and communicate updates to foreign associates.

  • Assist with formalities relating to the grant and registration of patents.

  • Monitor deadlines for payment of annuities/renewal.

  • Coordinate instructions and payments for patent maintenance.

  • Assist with recordals, assignments, changes in ownership/address, and other post-grant administrative matters.

  • Maintain accurate patent portfolio records and docketing information.

About you
  • Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 1–3 years of experience in patent prosecution, IP practice, legal support, or a similar role is preferred.

  • Experience working with IPOPHL is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with patent prosecution procedures, docketing, and annuity/maintenance requirements is highly desirable.

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with deadlines.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple matters and prioritize competing deadlines.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.

  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.

  • Willingness to learn and develop expertise in Philippine patent practice.
