Job summary

Spruson & Ferguson is seeking a Patent Engineer to protect innovations through filing, searches, translations, and related tasks across engineering fields.

You will support the prosecution process for patent applications in the Philippines and abroad, including preparing responses to office actions and maintaining timely milestones with strong technical English writing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related engineering field.
• Ideally 1–3 years of experience writing peer‑reviewed papers.
• Prior patent drafting or prior art search experience is advantageous.
• Strong technical writing skills in English.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and deadline discipline.

As a Patent Engineer, you are passionate about protecting innovations, and will handle patent work including filing, searches, translations, and more. In this role, you will:

• Support the team in protecting innovations in the Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Informatics, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation, and related fields.
• Handle patent work across the patent prosecution process.
• Support patent filing, searches, translations, responses to office actions, and prosecution of patent applications in Philippines and abroad.

What You Bring

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Informatics, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
• Ideally 1-3 years of experience in writing peer‑reviewed papers in conferences/journals.
• Prior experience in patent drafting, prior art search, handling office actions, or related areas would be a strong advantage.
• Strong technical writing skills in English, with clear and logical writing capabilities.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and discipline in meeting deadlines.
