Monroe Consulting Group, an executive recruitment firm, is partnering with an organisation in the Industrial sector to hire an Operations Manager for a 2×150 MW coal-fired power plant in South Luzon, Philippines.

This role focuses on ensuring efficient, reliable, safe, and economical power generation while maintaining quality standards and SOPs across Operations Departments, with strong leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics & Communications).
• At least 5 years of technical and managerial experience in power generation.
• Registered Engineer (ME, EE, or ECE).
• Professional licence such as PME or PEE is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate 2x150 MW coal-fired plant to ensure efficient, reliable, safe and economical generation of electric power.
• Plan, organise, and monitor activities across Main Plant, Chemical Department and Coal Handling to meet SOPs.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements and operating procedures.
• Lead and develop operations staff with strong planning and coordination.

Position Overview

Responsible for ensuring the efficient, reliable, safe, and economical operation of a 2×150 MW coal-fired power plant.
Plays a critical role in maintaining operational excellence across power generation activities while ensuring compliance with quality standards and established operating procedures.

Key Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the effective operation of 2x150 MW coal-fired plant to ensure efficient, reliable, safe and economical generation of electric power.

This job includes planning, organising, and monitoring of all activities in various Operations Departments (Main Plant, Chemical Department and Coal Handling) ensuring that quality standards, and other requirements are being met and that Standard Operating Procedures are followed at all times.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics and Communications Engineering.
• At least 5 years of technical and managerial experience in a power generation company, preferably within a coal-fired power plant environment.
• Registered Engineer (ME, EE, ECE).

Technical / Functional Expertise

• Strong knowledge of coal-fired power plant operations and power generation processes.
• Experience overseeing operations across Main Plant, Chemical Department, and Coal Handling functions.

• Knowledge of operational quality standards, regulatory requirements, and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Experience in planning, organising, and monitoring plant operations and departmental activities.
