Job summary
ING is seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to join the Java Platform Team within the Accounts & Cash Management Domain. You will own platform reliability, automate operational tasks, and drive observability to support millions of customers.
Based in Makati, Philippines, you will collaborate with global engineering teams, handle incidents, migrations, and improve CI/CD pipelines and runbooks, while upholding security and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in Operations or Platform Engineering or DevOps.
- Hands-on expertise with Azure DevOps and Git repositories, pipelines, boards, and artifacts.
- Strong OpenShift and Kubernetes administration experience.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry) and ELK stack.
Responsibilities
- Owning platform availability, reliability, performance, and operational stability.
- Leading application lifecycle management, infrastructure upgrades, and platform migrations.
- Driving risk remediation, security initiatives, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Managing major incidents and coordinating service restoration efforts.
- Performing root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
- Enhancing observability through monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and operational runbooks.
- Automating operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Collaborating with engineering, architecture, security, and platform teams to deliver resilient solutions.
- Supporting IT Operations processes including Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management.

You'll be part of the Java Platform Team within ING’s Accounts & Cash Management Domain, supporting critical financial services and payment capabilities.
Working in a multidisciplinary Agile environment, you'll collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners, and platform specialists across multiple locations. Together, you'll help deliver secure, scalable, and highly available solutions that support essential banking operations.
As an Operations Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the operational health of our platforms by:

We're looking for a technology professional who combines strong operational expertise with a continuous improvement mindset.
- 7+ years of experience in Operations Engineering, Platform Engineering, or DevOps environments
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps , including Repositories, Pipelines, Boards, Artifacts, and Test Plans
- Expertise in OpenShift and Kubernetes administration and support
- Experience with Linux administration , shell scripting, and automation
- Strong knowledge of observability tools such as Grafana , Prometheus , and OpenTelemetry
- Experience with the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
- Understanding of cloud platforms, infrastructure, networking, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Proven experience in incident management, troubleshooting, and service restoration
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementing long-term fixes
- Customer-focused and driven to improve service reliability
- Proactive in identifying and solving operational challenges
- Comfortable working in Agile and international environments
- Passionate about automation, standardization, and continuous improvement
- Strong communicator who can simplify complex technical concepts
- Work on large-scale, business-critical platforms
