Summary:
The Operations Manager oversees all operational, safety, financial, and administrative functions of a petroleum storage and distribution terminal. This role ensures that products (fuel, crude, LPG, lubricants, etc.) are received, stored, blended, and loaded efficiently while maintaining strict compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
What you'll be doing
- Oversee daily operational activities across manufacturing, transport and logistics functions to ensure smooth and efficient operations
- Manage inventory levels, procurement processes and stock control to optimise supply chain performance and reduce costs
- Supervise and coordinate with operations teams to meet production schedules and delivery timelines
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations across all operational areas
- Liaise with purchasing and procurement departments to manage vendor relationships and ensure material availability
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices
- Prepare operational reports and present findings to senior management
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency improvements
- Train and develop operations staff to maintain high performance standards
What we're looking for
- +10 years of experience as an Operation Manager or in a similar operational leadership role within manufacturing, transport or logistics environments
- Strong knowledge of procurement, inventory management and supply chain operations
- Excellent understanding of operational efficiency, cost management and process optimisation
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate teams
- Proficiency with operational management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Certification in operations management or supply chain management is advantageous
