Job summary

Platintel is seeking a dedicated Merchandise Coordinator to oversee end-to-end purchase orders and supplier relations for our client’s Planning & Buying team. You will ensure orders are placed, tracked, and received accurately to support 100+ store and ecommerce networks.

This role emphasizes ERP proficiency, meticulous data handling, and the ability to manage multiple supplier relationships simultaneously to keep the supply chain running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain, or related field.
• 2+ years' experience in purchase order management, procurement administration, or supply chain coordination.
• Experience in retail, jewellery, or lifestyle product categories preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ERP systems with order entry, item creation, and stock movements (NetSuite, Cin7, or similar).
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data management, filtering, and reporting.
• Exposure to import and international supply chain processes including ex-factory tracking and freight coordination.
• Attention to detail with a methodical approach to data entry and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Create and place product orders with suppliers in line with buying team direction and trading calendars.
• Monitor ex-factory dates and supplier SLAs, following up to ensure on-time delivery.
• Manage all order changes including date amendments, quantity adjustments, and cancellations in the ERP system.
• Ensure payment terms are recorded and flagged to the finance team ahead of due dates.
• Maintain a clear order book with visible committed stock for the buying and planning team.
• Act as primary day-to-day contact for suppliers on order queries, confirmations, and amendments.
• Escalate supplier performance issues — including SLA breaches and quality concerns — to the relevant Buyer promptly.
• Work with the warehouse on weekly stock arrivals and receipting.
• Produce stock management reports and flag stock level risks to prevent outs/shortages.
