Job summary

Polyhose is seeking an experienced NPD leader to own the roadmap for rubber, thermoformed plastic components and metal tubing. You will review plans, allocate resources, and ensure alignment with customer programs.

Lead feasibility reviews and approve design concepts, BOMs, and validation strategies.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of experience in mechanical/ polymer product development.
• Diploma or BE in Mechanical Engineering or Polymer Technology required.
• Experience with NPD for hoses, thermoformed components, and metal tubing is a plus.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Own and govern the NPD roadmap for rubber, thermoformed plastic components, and metal tubing, where applicable, aligned with Polyhose business priorities and customer programs.
• Review and approve NPD project plans, timelines, resource allocation, and budgets across multiple projects.
• Track portfolio-level plan vs. actual performance, identify systemic risks, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Act as the primary technical escalation point for customers on NPD programs related to hose assemblies, thermoformed tube components, and metal tubing, where applicable.
• Lead high-level feasibility reviews covering material strategy, tooling concepts, cycle time, yield, and cost viability.
• Approve technical concepts, design approaches, and validation strategies for customer applications.
• Review and approve critical design deliverables, including 2D drawings, 3D models, and BOM structures.
• Provide strategic direction to internal tool rooms and external tooling vendors for tool and fixture design, trials, and modifications.
• Ensure tooling readiness, capacity planning, and successful trials to support production ramp-up.
• Oversee pilot production, industrial trials, and handover from NPD to serial production.
• Review and approve PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and capability studies in coordination with Quality and Production teams.
• Own cost targets for new formed tubes, metal tubes, tooling, and fixture investments.
• Drive VA/VE initiatives focused on material optimization, cycle-time reduction, yield improvement, and cost competitiveness.
• Promote standardization and reuse of proven designs, tooling concepts, and process best practices across Polyhose plants.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the NPD team across multiple levels.
• Define skill requirements, support succession planning, and build technical depth in part design, tooling, fixture concepts, and problem-solving.
