Job summary

Godrej Tooling seeks a Die Design Engineer to develop HPDC die casting dies, translate product inputs into CAD models and drawings, and ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness. You will collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to meet production goals and maintain zero-deviation standards.

Essential qualification includes a mechanical/production/tool engineering background with 2–5 years of die design experience. Pro-E, Unigraphics, and AutoCAD skills are required.

Qualifications

• Essential qualification: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/ Production / Tool Engineering.
• Experience: 2–3 years with Degree or 4–5 years with Diploma, in die design.

Responsibilities

• Design HPDC Die casting dies from product inputs and translate to die design concepts.
• Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for HPDC dies using industry-standard software.
• Ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance of die designs.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, tooling, and quality teams to align with production capabilities.
• Attend tool trials and implement design improvements; conduct root-cause analysis for deviations.

Job Description

• Design of HPDC Die Casting Dies
  - Interpret product design inputs and translate them into die design concepts.
  - Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for HPDC dies using industry-standard software.
  - Ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance of the die designs.
  - Participate in cross-functional design reviews to validate and optimize designs.
  - Collaborate with manufacturing, tooling, and quality teams to ensure alignment with production capabilities.
• Productivity Target Based On-Time and First-Time Correct Parameters
  - Release CAD data and drawings at defined project milestones.
  - Maintain adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  - Track and report design cycle time and first-time-right metrics.
  - Coordinate with project management and downstream functions to ensure smooth handover of design data.
• Design Quality Enhancement and Achieving Zero Deviation
  - Attend tool trials at the assembly shop to validate die performance.
  - Capture feedback and implement design improvements proactively.
  - Conduct root cause analysis for any deviations and implement corrective actions.
  - Maintain a zero-deviation record for assigned projects.
• Process Compliance to Design Function Standards
  - Comply with IMS (Integrated Management System) documentation requirements.
  - Maintain design records, change logs, and approval documentation.
  - Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and design checklists.
  - Participate in internal and external audits as required.
• Housekeeping, TPM, Kaizen, and Business Excellence
  - Participate in Kaizen activities to enhance design quality and productivity.
  - Support TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives within the design function.
  - Maintain a clean and organized digital and physical workspace.
  - Contribute to business excellence programs and innovation initiatives.
