The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in maintaining and ensuring the efficient operation of mechanical systems and equipment within our sugar manufacturing and distillery plants. This role involves conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and performing repairs to minimize downtime and enhance production efficiency.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on mechanical systems and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and prevent recurrence.
Conduct repairs and replacements of mechanical components, including motors, pumps, conveyors, and other equipment.
Preventive Maintenance:
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to prolong the lifespan of mechanical systems and equipment. Perform PM schedule as directed by Maintenance Planner and supervisor.
Perform equipment inspection using condition-based monitoring equipment and sensory inspection and coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor and Planner on equipment condition and observations.
Utilize predictive maintenance techniques to identify potential issues and address them proactively.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repair histories.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards in all maintenance activities.
Conduct safety inspections and audits, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective measures to mitigate risks.
Stay updated with industry regulations, codes, and standards applicable to mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and legal requirements.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mechanical system performance, reduce downtime, and improve operational efficiency.
Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies to interpret equipment performance data and identify trends.
Assist in the development and implementation of best practices for mechanical maintenance and repairs.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other maintenance team members, operators, and engineers to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure alignment with production goals.
Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, management, and external stakeholders to address mechanical issues and support project initiatives.
Guide production operators and tenders, providing them with the necessary support and expertise to maintain equipment performance.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a mechanical technician within industrial or manufacturing environments
Technical Proficiency:
Comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems, including design, operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues and implementing corrective measures to maintain system reliability and compliance.
Regulatory Compliance:
Thorough knowledge of mechanical regulations, codes, and standards, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and legal requirements.
Experience in facilitating inspections, audits, and regulatory certifications for mechanical systems.
Problem-Solving Abilities:
Advanced problem-solving skills to diagnose complex mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
Proficiency in root cause analysis and predictive maintenance techniques to address mechanical challenges and improve system performance.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
Good communication and interpersonal abilities to liaise effectively with cross-functional teams, management, and external stakeholders.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively within a maintenance team and support organizational goals.
