Job summary

Edgeworthy Packaging Corporation seeks an experienced Machine Technician to oversee maintenance, set-up, changeovers, and repair of toll manufacturing lines across filling, coding, labeling, and packaging equipment. You will maximize line uptime, ensure precise fills, legible codes, and prevent cross-contamination.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems; lead tool-less changeovers; troubleshoot jams and printer errors;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5+ years of direct experience servicing automated or semi-automated filling, coding, labeling, and packaging lines in toll manufacturing or related environments.
• Hands-on proficiency with filling equipment and packaging automation.
• Direct experience operating and maintaining industrial coders (Videojet, Domino, Markem-Imaje).
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and pneumatic diagrams.
• Basic familiarity with PLC interfaces (HMI, sensors).
• Knowledge of safety guidelines (OSHA, LOTO) and GMP/ISO standards.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and wear PPE during washdowns/switchovers.
• Preferred: Vocational certificate or Associate degree in Mechanical/Electrical Technology.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily, scheduled, and emergency maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical components across all line machinery.
• Lead tool-less and standard tooling changeovers across filling, coding, labeling, and packaging units.
• Troubleshoot mechanical jams, sensor misalignments, pump failures, printer errors to minimize downtime.
• Calibrate filling nozzles, load cells, and sensors to guarantee fill accuracy and label alignment.
• Enforce LOTO and CIP/SIP protocols to prevent cross-contamination between batches.
• Document repairs, component replacements, calibration checks, and PM logs in CMMS.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Machine Technician to oversee the maintenance, set-up, changeovers, and repair of our toll manufacturing production lines. You will be directly responsible for four core equipment categories: filling, coding, labeling, and packaging machinery. Your main focus is maximizing line uptime, ensuring precise fill accuracy, maintaining clear code legibility, and preventing cross-contamination across diverse customer product runs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily, scheduled, and emergency maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical components across all line machinery

• Lead tool-less and standard tooling changeovers across filling, coding, labeling, and packaging units to accommodate frequent batch transitions

• Troubleshoot mechanical jams, sensor misalignments, pump failures, print head errors, and label feeds during live production runs to minimize downtime

• Calibrate filling nozzles, load cells, and sensors to guarantee fill accuracy and zero product giveaway, while inspecting code placement and label alignment

• Enforce strict Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols and follow site Clean-In-Place (CIP) / Sterilization-In-Place (SIP) procedures to prevent cross-contamination between contract batches

• Document all repairs, component replacements, calibration checks, and PM logs accurately within the plant's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

• Set up, calibrate, and maintain liquid, paste, or powder filling units (rotary, piston, inline, auger, volumetric, or net-weight systems)

• Configure, clean, and troubleshoot industrial coders (continuous inkjet, thermal transfer, laser, or impulse printers) for batch numbers, manufacture dates, and barcodes

• Align, adjust, and repair automated labelers (pressure-sensitive, wrap-around, front/back, or shrink-sleeve applicators)

• Service and overhaul downstream packaging equipment, including case sealers, cartoners, flow wrappers, shrink tunnels, and bundling systems

About you

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• 3–5+ years of direct experience servicing automated or semi-automated filling, coding, labeling, and packaging lines in a toll manufacturing, contract packaging, chemical, food/beverage, or pharma environment

• Hands-on proficiency with filling equipment and packaging automation

• Direct experience operating and maintaining industrial coders (e.g., Videojet, Domino, Markem-Imaje)

• Demonstrated ability to read mechanical assembly drawings, electrical schematics, and pneumatic flow diagrams

• Basic familiarity with PLC interface controls (HMI operations, sensor adjustments, fault clearing)

• Knowledge of safety guidelines (OSHA, LOTO) and quality standards (GMP/ISO)

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long shifts, and wear required PPE during washdowns or product switchovers

• Vocational certificate, Trade School diploma, or Associate degree in Mechanical/Electrical Technology preferred
