About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Librarian to join AMA University at our Project 8 campus in Quezon City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in supporting the academic mission of the university by managing library operations, curating information resources, and promoting information literacy amongst students and staff. As Librarian, you will be instrumental in creating an organized, welcoming, and resourceful library environment that facilitates learning, research, and intellectual growth across the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee daily library operations, including cataloguing, classification, and organization of physical and digital resources

• Develop and maintain comprehensive library collections aligned with the academic programs and research needs of the university

• Provide reference services and information assistance to students, faculty, and staff, guiding them in effective research methodologies and resource utilization

• Conduct library orientation sessions and information literacy programs to enhance users' research and academic skills

• Manage library technology systems, including the library management system, databases, and digital resources

• Collaborate with academic departments to understand their information needs and recommend suitable resources and services

• Ensure compliance with intellectual property rights, licensing agreements, and data protection regulations

• Supervise and train library support staff and student assistants, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment

• Monitor library budget allocation and make cost-effective purchasing decisions for resources and materials

• Maintain library facilities, equipment, and resources in good condition and ensure a safe, accessible environment for all users

• Develop and implement library policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure quality service delivery

• Stay abreast of trends in library science, information management, and educational technology to continuously improve library services

What we’re looking for

• Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or Library and Information Management

• Professional librarian credentials or certifications relevant to the library and information management field

• Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in a library or information management setting, preferably within a higher education institution

• Strong knowledge of library management systems, digital databases, and information technology tools

• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

• Proficient communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse user groups

• Proven ability to provide quality reference and research support services

• Knowledge of information literacy instruction and user education programs

• Familiarity with cataloguing standards, classification systems, and metadata management

• Strong customer service orientation and commitment to user satisfaction

• Proficiency in English; additional language skills are advantageous

• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to evolving library services and emerging technologies
