About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Guidance Counselor to join our team at AMA University in Project 8, Quezon City, Metro Manila. This is a fulltime position that plays a vital role in supporting the mental health, academic progress and personal development of our student population. As a Guidance Counselor, you will be instrumental in creating a supportive environment where students can address their challenges, set meaningful goals and achieve their full potential. This role is essential to our mission of providing comprehensive student support services and contributes directly to student retention, satisfaction and institutional success.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual counselling services to students addressing academic, personal, social and emotional concerns
• Conduct intake assessments and develop personalized counselling plans for students
• Facilitate group counselling sessions and psychoeducational workshops on topics such as stress management, study skills and mental health awareness
• Collaborate with academic departments to support students facing academic difficulties and develop intervention strategies
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records and case documentation in compliance with professional standards
• Refer students to appropriate external resources and mental health services when specialized support is required
• Participate in student orientation programs and outreach activities to promote awareness of counselling services
• Attend staff meetings and professional development activities to maintain current knowledge and skills
• Support crisis intervention and emergency response protocols as needed
• Work collaboratively with other student services departments, faculty and administrative staff to promote student wellbeing

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counselling or a related mental health field; a Master's degree is preferred
• Valid professional license or certification as a counsellor or psychologist as required by regulatory bodies in the Philippines
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a counselling role, preferably in an educational setting or with young adults
• Strong knowledge of counselling theories, therapeutic techniques and mental health best practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport and build trust
• Demonstrated ability to work sensitively with diverse populations and individuals from varied backgrounds
• Proficiency in conducting assessments and developing appropriate intervention strategies
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in counselling practice
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Cultural competency and understanding of the Philippine educational context
