Job summary

ING Chapter Lead Engineer in Manila area leads a team of 5–10 engineers, combining people leadership with hands-on delivery of secure, scalable digital banking solutions. You’ll partner with Product Owners, Architects, and global stakeholders to raise engineering standards and drive continuous improvement.

You will mentor talent, shape career paths, and own key decisions on architecture, DevOps, and automation while balancing leadership with hands-on coding when needed.

About the Role

As a Chapter Lead Engineer , you will lead and develop a team of 5 to 10 engineers while remaining actively involved in software delivery and technical decision-making. You will partner closely with Product Owners, Architects, Engineering Leads, and global stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions, strengthen engineering capabilities, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

What We’re Looking For

Leadership & Delivery

• At least 5 years of people leadership experience within software engineering teams.
• Strong coaching, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven track record of leading enterprise-scale technology delivery.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Excellent communication and decision-making capabilities.

Technical Expertise

Required

• Strong backend development experience using Java (Java 11+) .
• Experience building applications with Kotlin .
• Deep knowledge of Spring Framework and Spring Boot .
• Expertise in developing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures .
• Experience working with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native environments.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines , DevOps practices , and automation.
• Experience with Git , automated testing frameworks , and secure software development principles.
• Bachelor's degree in any field.

Preferred

• Banking or financial services experience.
• ExperiencewithSQLdatabases, JPA, and Hibernate.
• Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Maven, and related engineering tools.
• Knowledge of reliability engineering and operational excellence practices.
