About the role

We are seeking a highly organized, strategic, and experienced Legal Counsel to act as the primary legal advisor for our company. You will take full ownership of the company's legal function, overseeing everything from day-to-day contract management to high-level corporate strategy. In this role, you will draft critical legal documents, manage litigation and compliance strategies, and offer direct guidance to Top Management. You will also be responsible for establishing internal legal processes from the ground up and implementing the tools needed to operate efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary in-house legal advisor to Top Management, clarifying complex legal language and offering strategic guidance on corporate operations, tax strategies, and risk mitigation

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of legal documents, commercial contracts, and settlement agreements autonomously

• Direct the company's litigation strategy, oversee statutory filings, and represent the company's interests in legal proceedings

• Handle intellectual property matters, including drafting, filing, and managing patents and trademarks to protect company assets

• Collaborate cross-functionally with other business units to ensure all company initiatives comply with internal policies, current legislation, and regulatory requirements

• Design, implement, and streamline foundational legal processes for the company to ensure operational efficiency and reduce reliance on external counsel

• Identify, deploy, and manage legal technologies and tools, including document management systems, contract lifecycle trackers, and legal research platforms

• Monitor, track, and manage all external legal expenditures, and coordinate with outside counsel when highly specialized expertise is required

About you

• Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree; must be a licensed lawyer and an active member of the Philippine Bar

• Proven experience as an in-house Legal Counsel, Corporate Lawyer, or similar role

• Previous experience establishing a company's legal function from scratch or working with a high degree of autonomy is highly preferred

• Strong proficiency in legal software, case management systems, and Microsoft Office applications to manage workflows efficiently

• Deep understanding of corporate law, legal defense strategies, statutory compliance, and intellectual property

• Proven crisis management experience with the ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines independently, and oversee complex legal matters

• Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities

• Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable business advice for non-legal stakeholders
