Job summary

KIRA is seeking a Lead Engineer to take technical ownership of complex products and systems, raising the engineering bar across the team. This is a hands-on leadership role with design, code, and production problem-solving responsibilities.

You will design architectures, review code, mentor engineers and drive major initiatives from idea to production, while balancing speed, reliability and maintainability across systems.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with production systems experience.
• Deep expertise in backend, frontend, APIs, databases or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong system design and architecture skills with impact on complex systems.
• Hands-on coding ability and willingness to work directly with production code.
• Proven track record leading major engineering initiatives and mentoring peers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and execution of major products and initiatives.
• Design scalable, reliable systems across backend, frontend, APIs and databases.
• Stay hands-on with coding, reviews, debugging and production problem-solving.
• Make architecture decisions balancing speed, scalability, reliability and maintainability.
• Break problems into clear engineering plans and enforce high quality standards.
• Review designs and code, provide actionable feedback, and mentor engineers.
• Identify risks and bottlenecks before they affect delivery.
• Collaborate with product, design and AI teams to ship high-quality products quickly.
• Improve tooling and development practices to increase team velocity.
• Own systems post-release, monitor production and drive reliability improvements.
