Qualifications

• At least three years of experience in maritime claims or related fields.
• Experience with P&I insurance, crew welfare, or marine insurance.
• Experience coordinating with insurers, shipowners, ports, and authorities.
• Knowledge of MLC 2006, P&I rules and procedures, and maritime insurance administration.

Job Description - Insurance & Claims Officer

What You'll Do

As an Insurance & Claims Officer, you will manage crew-related insurance and claims cases from initial assessment through final resolution. You'll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely case handling, regulatory compliance, and efficient claims administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day processing of P&I claims cases arising from illness, injury, disability, death, or employment-related disputes involving seafarers, stevedores, stowaways.
• Coordinate with insurers, P&I Clubs, correspondents, medical providers, port agents, vessels, and other stakeholders throughout the claims process.
• Review medical reports, claim documents, invoices, and supporting records to determine insurance coverage and recommend appropriate actions.
• Support the administration of non-crew claims involving stevedores, stowaways, offshore personnel, and other related cases.
• Monitor claims progress to ensure timely resolution and settlement.
• Ensure compliance with insurance policies, company procedures, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations.
• Prepare reports, analyze claims trends, and recommend process improvements.
• Support vessel insurance documentation and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Provide guidance and technical support to junior team members.

What We're Looking For

Experience

• Preferably at least three (3) years of experience in maritime claims, crew welfare, marine insurance, P&I insurance, medical case management, seafarer compensation, or related fields.
• Experience handling:
  • Injury and illness claims
  • Disability compensation claims
  • Death claims
  • Repatriation cases
  • Medical treatment monitoring
  • Claims settlement and compensation negotiations
• Experience coordinating with shipowners, manning agencies, hospitals, clinics, legal representatives, insurers, and government agencies.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in any of the following is considered an advantage:

• P&I Correspondent operations
• P&I Club reporting requirements and procedures
• Claims investigations and evidence collection
• Liability assessment and claims settlement
• Coordination with international shipowners, surveyors, port agents, and maritime legal counsel
• Maritime insurance and legal claims administration

We're looking for someone with strong technical knowledge and excellent stakeholder management skills.

Knowledge of

• Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006)
• Protection & Indemnity (P&I) rules and procedures
• Maritime insurance and claims administration
• DMW rules and regulations
• Philippine Standard Employment Contract (SEC) for Seafarers
