Scorpio is seeking a Chief Officer to oversee navigation, cargo operations, deck crew management, maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance aboard our vessel in Manila. The role emphasizes environmental protection, operational efficiency, and high safety standards for crew and cargo handling.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate leadership in diverse sea conditions, expert knowledge of SOLAS and MARPOL, and the ability to mentor officers while achieving commercial objectives within safety

Qualifications

Thorough understanding of SOLAS, MARPOL and flag state regulations.
Proficiency in bridge operations and navigation.
Experience leading deck crew and cargo/ballast operations.
Mentoring and developing officers and crew.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Oversee navigational responsibilities, cargo operations, deck crew management, maintenance, safety, and compliance with all rules and regulations.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

The Chief Officer should have a thorough understanding of company procedures, SOLAS, MARPOL, flag state regulations, and emergency response protocols. Proficiency in bridge operations, risk assessment, cargo and ballast operations, tank cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of deck and cargo equipment is essential. Competence in routine maintenance, waste management and mooring operations, alongside strong communication, team coordination, mentoring skills, is required. Adaptability to new technology and software is also essential.

Experience: Demonstrated leadership in safely navigating through diverse sea conditions, consistent capability to manage deck operations and efficiently oversee cargo and ballast handling. Proven record of mentoring and developing the technical and soft skills of officers and crew. Demonstrates ability to achieve commercial objectives while upholding safety and regulatory standards, with a clear understanding of compliance requirements for environmental protection. High reliability in urgent situations, ensuring the security and safety of the vessel and crew.
