Job summary

Manulife group in Makati, Philippines is seeking an Underwriting Analyst 3 to provide equitable and sound underwriting decisions on all applications within turnaround times. The role protects the company against uninsurable risk while supporting growth and financial goals.

You will check document completeness, classify risks, order examinations, document notes in the CAS system, and liaise with AML and Chief Underwriter on complex cases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Science/Sociology/Medical Science/Nursing or equivalent.
• Life insurance underwriting experience.
• Leadership and team supervision abilities.
• Ability to collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

• Check for completion of documents submitted.
• Sort and match requirements for underwriting.
• Classify occupation, assess risk factors (build, history, financial, residential/geographical, medical).
• Order risk assessments (Medical Exam, APS, blood test).
• Document information in CAS underwriting notes.
• Conduct AML checks and liaise with AML Officer or Chief Underwriter on positive results.
• Discuss complex cases with senior underwriter or medical consultant.
• Underwrite medical and complex cases within approval authority; escalate as needed.
• Provide loading for sub-standard cases and generate rated proposals.
• Update NB Tracking System and inform distributors via Inotify.
• Prepare declined/postponed letters with refunds if applicable.
• Report impairments to MIB.
• Handle inquiries, perform alpha search, consolidate risks, and notify agents by email.
• Ensure all pending cases are properly filed daily.
